Corfu is located in the Ionian Sea and is perhaps one of the most famous islands of western Greece. It has an oblong shape and its terrain is mainly mountainous. All citrus fruits thrive on the island as well as the exotic kumquat which is now a traditional product that one can find on the island. Finally, tsitsipyra is produced only in Corfu and is a different sparkling soft drink aged in the bottle.
The island also stands out for its local sweets. The mandolato made with tahini, the mandoles with roasted and caramelized almonds, the colombina, a type of Christbread, and the fogatsa, a type of bun of Venetian origin, are some of the most famous that stand out with their flavors.
